You have a home or small business and you want to put in a Ductless Split system, but you don't like the look this box on you wall. I want to introduce you to the idea of the LG Art Cool Gallery. It is a ductless split system with a picture frame on the outside and all the mechanical components of an indoor evaporator coil on the inside.
This option can be very attractive to people who don't like the traditional look of the wall mounted ductless splits. It still requires all the traditional components of a ductless split install; the indoor unit must be on an exterior wall (for finished or completed buildings); its dimensions are 23-5/8" x 23-5/8" x 5-3/4" (Height x Width x Depth); all the refrigerant piping must be run to the outside and covered with line-set pipe covering (to make the piping more aesthetically palatable on the outside of the building).
Now, the LG system can function like any other system until you reach a capacity of more than 36,000 BTUs (the indoors only come in 9,000 and 12,000 BTU units). **BTU stands British Thermal units and is unit of measurement for heating and cooling loads**. Once you get beyond the 36,000 BTUs, you will require your refrigerant piping to connect to branch boxes to go indoors (because it has electric components inside each branch box) and then redistribute the refrigerant piping back outside. **Branch boxes communicate with the condensing unit to optimize system performance with regards to refrigerant usage**. It may not seem like a lot, however, there can be a drawback to the system: if you install a 48,000 BTU condenser outside you must have a minimum of two units running whenever you have a call for heating or cooling. For some projects it may not make a difference, but for some it may be a deal breaker, in which case, you would have to opt for two or more condensers outside.
